Nationally recognized The Links of North Dakota presents golfers with an authentic links style golfing experience on the bluffs overlooking Lake Sakakawea. The course located just 28 miles outside of Williston, North Dakota and 16 miles from Ray, North Dakota in the heart of the areas Bakken Oil Formation. It is the areas only 18 hole championship golf course with Bent Grass greens, fairways and tee boxes which allow a true “Links” ground game experience! Water doesn’t come into play on this par-72 championship course but 85+ sand bunkers will. Wind will almost always factor into your round at The Links. Players have the option of five tee boxes as they set out for 18 holes of links golf on a course with wide open fairways, but punishing native prairie grass rough. Architect Stephen Kay moved a minimal amount of dirt in placing this course on the rolling land overlooking the big lake, and you can expect some uneven lies as you navigate this world class venue. Head Golf Professional: Mitch Fifer 

 

The North Dakota native from Tioga, North Dakota, has grown alongside the course year after year. Having demonstrated the skill, commitment, and passion necessary to excel throughout the game of golf, Mitch first took his talents to the collegiate level for Meridian CC and Delta State University.

Fifer’s collegiate career was distinguished. Mitch helped to secure the 2018 championship for his team at Meridian CC  whilst having earned First-Team All-Freshmen and First-Team All-American honors at Meridian Community College before moving on to Delta State. At Delta State University, he posted a 72.67 stroke average en route to earning his Bachelors in Business Administration.

With The Links of North Dakota’s reputation as one of America’s premier Links style courses, Fifer’s local roots, competitive experience, and knowledge of the game make him a great addition to the course and our staff. His blend of talent, work ethic, and years of experience here at the Links positions him as an outstanding golf professional for The Links of ND.

 

Golf Course Superintendent: Gustavo Rodriguez, GCSAA

 

Gustavo was born in Grand Island, Nebraska and raised in Ravenna, Nebraska where he learned to play golf and worked at Ravenna Golf Club in the summers. After high school, Gustavo attended The University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he received his Bachelor’s in Turfgrass & Landscape Management. Gustavo then moved to Scottsdale to be an assistant at TPC Scottsdale. From there, he worked at Shadow Ridge Country Club in Omaha through their bunker and golf course renovation project. Gustavo also spent a little bit of time with Landscapes Unlimited working on golf course construction and grass grow-in projects. After his time there, Gustavo headed back to TPC Jasna Polana, where he interned years prior, to be an assistant. In 2020, Gustavo accepted the Head Superintendent job at Fox Run Golf Club where he would spend 2 years improving the overall course conditions and playability. Now, with The Links of North Dakota, he expects to do great things in improving the golf course conditions and regular maintenance practices.
